Com Hem AB of Sweden, supplies triple play services that include cable tv, digital television, broadband, telephony and HDTV.

Founded in 1983 as Televerket Kabel-TV as part of the former state-owned Televerket, the company has been successively named Svenska Kabel-TV AB and Telia InfoMedia TeleVision AB, before becoming 'Com Hem' (a play with the Swedish phrase "Kom hem" = Come Home).[citation needed]

Today the company has nearly 200 different TV channels available to its customers. Digital TV was introduced in 1997. A broadband service that uses the company's proprietary cable network was launched in 1999. In 2004 IP telephony was introduced and the company became Sweden's first nationwide triple play operator.[citation needed] Com Hem now reach one third of Sweden's households.[citation needed]

All the households connected to the Com Hem cable network have access to broadband services, services for fixed telephony (VoIP) and a wide range of TV programs. Com Hem also provides interactive services that facilitate management, communication and maintenance for property owners.[specify]

The company has around 700 employees with offices in Stockholm, Göteborg, Malmö, Västerås and Härnösand. When Televerket was privatized, the company remained as part of Telia, before being bought by private equity firm EQT.[citation needed] Com Hem has been acquired by the US venture capital companies The Carlyle Group and Providence Equity Partners, from January 1 2006.[1]

Analog channels

The analog package may also include a few local channels, usually an open access channel such as Öppna Kanalen. In areas near Denmark, Norway or Finland, Com Hem usually includes channels from the neighboring countries.
