2005 ArbCom elections
Flcelloguy suggested that we write a series about the upcoming ArbCom elections, which will likely start on December 4th. Discussion of ideas and implementation will occur at Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/Newsroom/2005 Arbcom elections.
Redesign?
I've thought about redesigning the Signpost front page. Discussion to take place at Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/Newsroom/Redesign.

Reporters: note here what items you are working on, to avoid duplicating each other's work. When you start writing a story, create a subpage in your userspace; put a link here to help keep efforts organized, and to solicit editing. You can create an article with the standard header by using {{subst:Signpost article|(your username)|(issue date)|(year)|(title)}}.
Bylines are used because this is original reporting (it's taking responsibility, not credit), but as with the rest of the wiki, editing each other's work is encouraged.
Regular beats
- Arbitration cases (T.R.O.L.L.) — ral315
- Round-up of featured articles, featured pictures and recent RFA developments. - OPEN
- User:The wub used to do this, but is taking a break for lack of time.
- I can do it if absolutely necessary, but I'd prefer focusing my attention on the ArbCom series. Weren't there quite a few people interested in doing this when Michael Snow stepped down as editor? Flcelloguy | A note? | Desk 20:39, 21 September 2005 (UTC)
- None that have contacted me. I'll send a series of "are you still interested?" mailers to the people who responded on Michael Snow's talk page. And I agree that your series should come first- I'd much rather have that turn out excellent than have you put out two halfway-decent articles due to time constraints. - I'll take it. Zach (Sound Off) 07:38, 25 September 2005 (UTC)

Next issue (September 26)
- Installment #2 of the ArbCom election - I assume that Flcelloguy's going to take it again.

- What are YOU reporting this week?
Notes for publication time
Move finished articles to a location of Wikipedia:Wikipedia_Signpost/2005-mm-dd/Short_title (mm-dd is date of issue). Once the articles are moved, edit Template:Signpost footer to add links to the articles, replacing those from the previous issue. Doing this after the articles are already moved avoids redirects, thus allowing the footer to show which is the article currently being read. Piped text in the footer should be very short, one word if possible. Then add the template to the bottom of each article using {{subst:Signpost footer}} (this allows the template to be recycled).
Once everything is ready, edit the main Signpost page itself. List the articles on the page with their full headline — headlines should be kept reasonably brief so as not to take up too much space. Don't forget to update the issue number and date on the page. The previous week's articles can then be archived by creating a new page at Wikipedia:Wikipedia_Signpost/2005-mm-dd and this can be placed on the archive page with template brackets. Thanks to everyone for helping.
