- Disagree. the scroll is nice, but I think it is also useful to show modern-day writing. remember that not everyone can see the devanagari text in the article: I see 'Devanāgarī (?????????)' on my system. Image:Miss Carey.jpg - In the corner of the image, it says that it came from MariahDaily.com (though they are not the original copyright holder). This may imply to some people that Wikipedia is affiliated with and endorses MariahDaily.com, when it doesn't. I think you're confusing the two pictures. The PNG is clearly the wrong aspect ratio (look how horizontally stretched Cleese looks), is darker, washed out, and the wrong filetype, while the JPG fixes all of these problems. I think they know. What do you mean by "wrong filetype" by the way? PNG is a perfectly good file format, that unlike JPEG doesn't cause loss of quality, unless file size is of critical importance I don't see the problem. You should have just made your "improved" version PNG too and overwritten the old image rather than creating a duplicate.
