This is a list of punk bands (L through Z) who have achieved notability. The bands listed have played punk music at some point in their career, although they may have also played other styles. Subgenres of punk rock include anarcho-punk, art punk, Christian punk, garage punk, glam punk, hardcore punk (and first-wave emo), horror punk, Nazi punk, Oi!, riot grrrl, skate punk, and others; fusion subgenres include 2 Tone, Celtic punk, deathrock, folk punk, Gypsy punk, pop punk, psychobilly, Scottish Gaelic punk, ska punk, and others.

Bands who played in a style that influenced early punk rock—such as garage rock and protopunk—but never played punk rock themselves, should not be on this list. Bands who created a new genre that was influenced by (but not a subgenre of) punk rock—but never played punk rock, such as post-punk, alternative rock, and New Wave—should not be listed either.
