Eschatology
Appearance
Eschatology literally means 'the study of last things'. It describes that part of theology concerning the end of the world as predicted in prophecy and recorded in sacred texts. The term is principally used in discussions of Christianity, where it originated; but the term can also be applied to other religions, especially the western monotheistic faiths.
Eschatologies of particular religions:
Some religions have no concept of an end of the Earth, and hence no eschatology:
- Neopaganism and Wicca believe that the entire Universe continues in endless cycles of birth, death, and rebirth.
