The fraternity of DELTA OMEGA EPSILON was the first to pass through a constitution of any Greek Organizations on the campus, at College of Staten Island. The constitution stated that we were a Co-Ed (Farority) Greek Organization. On the 15th of April 1985, the fraternity and its members were recognized on campus. Brother Richard Pelestri and Brother Sal Leone, with Twenty-Five other brothers and sisters came united under the name of Delta Omega Epsilon. The fraternity was around on campus until the second semester of the 1991 year. During the spring term of 1993, Brother George Zapantis got together with Brother Jimmy Matheos wanting to re-establish Delta Omega Epsilon Fraternity. Discussion between the two brought the idea that Delta Omega Epsilon will now be a men's only organization. George Zapantis, president in 1991, gathered all the information and tradition used in the past. The two got together and gathered names of those interested in becoming part of a brotherhood. The two got together with twelve others to reform Delta Omega Epsilon. Mano Abazis, Nasser Ahmed, Ashie Hossan-Dolah, Carlos Leston, Jimmy Matheos, Seth Meyerson, Murad Nazi, Ray Orfano, Michael Perry, John Ryan, Rob Ryan, Frank Scarso, Tony Terranova, George Zapanthis were the 14 Re-founding Fathers of the Fraternity. The constitution was handed into the school and passed on September 22, 1994 marking Delta Omega Epsilon's return to the campus of The College of Staten Island. These 14 brothers came from different ethnic backgrounds and started up a multicultural organization which we are still successfully running today. During the same semester that Delta Omega Epsilon was reborn, Brother George Zapantis sat down with Sister Jennifer Kary to help her organize a woman's organization. With the help from George, a constitution was written up for a women's organization. Jennifer Kary brought together a group of women to set up a sister chapter, now known as SIGMA OMEGA EPSILON, S.O.E.; Omega Epsilon represents the big brothers of the chapter and the Sigma represents Sisters. Currently one of the most active brothers is Maurice “Mo” Jones, who has helped Delta Omega Epsilon to be one of the most successful fraternities in SUNY Delhi.
