Season chronology

The eighth season of Dancing with the Stars will be aired beginning in March 2009, as revealed by Tom Bergeron during the Season 7 finale. While there are rumors of certain stars that are going to join this season, nothing has been made official yet, even how many stars there will be. Possibilities include another *Nsync member since they had Joey Fatone (Season 4) and Lance Bass (Season 7), and another possibility would be a model and a Disney Channel star. Chances are there will likely be 13 or more, as each season in the past has had the same amount or more stars as the preceding season. Professional dancer and two-time winner of the show, Julianne Hough, has stated on her blog site that she will not be returning for Season 8, and may be back for the fall season. According to Buddy TV, the show will premiere on March 9, 2009. According to numerous sources, unlike this past season, where two couples were unceremoniously given the boot during the first week of competition, the upcoming season will feature two weeks of performances before the first elimination takes place.
