The article you wrote on Vertigo not only contains striking phrases copied from external sources, but whole paragraphs. For instance, "Sebald's melancholy doppelgänger wanders the streets of Vienna, Venice, Milan, Verona and Innsbruck, and finally, rucksack slung over his shoulder, hikes across the Austrian border into Bavaria and the village of W. (very possibly Sebald's birthplace, Wertach)." This is copied directly from http://archive.salon.com/books/review/2000/06/26/sebald/. Sentences and at least one whole paragraph are copied from http://64.233.169.132/search?q=cache:GrouWd9bTjIJ:www.nytimes.com/books/00/06/11/reviews/000611.11dipiert.html+%22nervous+black+and+white+images%22&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=5&gl=us&client=firefox-a. You copied whole sentences from http://www.lorenwebster.net/In_a_Dark_Time/category/longer-works/sebalds-vertigo/.

Please do not add copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you wish to attempt to revise this article, please do not edit it directly as you did when it was first tagged, but follow the instructions on the template of creating a new article written from scratch in temporary space. Oops! I was told recently by it.Wikipedia (since I was doing the very same there) that I cannot blank my talk page, but at most I can "archive" the various past messages. I didn't know that and I ask for humble pardon: I thought I could erase everything, after reading, just like I normally do with emails on my Outlook... It's MY talk page, after all. With Sebald and Bernhard I sure am encountering difficulties! Jeez.
But you're right, I borrowed too much and stand corrected. I liked those incriminating reviews so very much, because they expressed so very well the salient points of those novels, I couldn't resist using them and tried to paraphrase where possible. And yet I had to use the reviewers' words, as they were so beautifully expressive of the novels' significance...
No, I won't write anything else on them -- I lost the momentum and don't feel up to it. Pity for the books: I hope someone else'll be able to post something on them again in the future.--Daubmir (talk) 21:31, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
