Birdman Task Force Jetman (鳥人戦隊ジェットマン meaning, Choujin Sentai Jettoman) was the 15th entry of Sentai Series. It was produced by Toei Company and aired on TV Asahi on February 15, 1991 to February 14, 1992, with a total of 51 episodes.

Plot

The show takes place in 1999, Vyram begins invasion of Earth by destroying Skyforce's base Earth Ship; Ryu Tendo's beloved, Rie Aoi, is sucked out in the chaos while Ryu escapes with Commander Aya Odagiri, in the explosion, four civilians are struck by Birdonic Wave bolts which were intended to turn Ryu and four Skyforce officers into Jetmen as part of the J project, Ryu and Odagiri locate the four strangers to become Jetmen, Ryu must fight his beloved Rie, who has now Maria of Vyram, the Dimensians give Jetmen the Jet Garuda before being killed, a parasitic starfish born from Radiguet's blood turns Maria into a vampiric creature; she turns on Radiguet but is slain. as Ryu duels Radiguet for revenge, the others rush to help; Grey blocks their path but is killed by Gai, Radiguet enlarges to monster Raguem and merges with mothership Vylock, Raguem wrecks Tetra Boy but finally falls to Birdonic Sabre of Great Icarus.

  • Ryu Tendo / Red Hawk: 26 years old, Originally a Skyforcer codenamed "W6". Became a Jetman by being showered with Birdonic Waves as a member of the J Project, leader with a strong sense of justice than anyone's, beloved Rie Aoi becomes Vyram officer Maria, his grandmother, Kinuyo Tendo, wants to marry for his family's business, Three years after Vyram defeated, he marries Kaori, armed with Wing Punch.
  • Kaori Rokumeikan / White Swan: 22 years old, A rich girl joined Jetman to escape boredom, she is taken care of her butler, Jiiya when her parents live in New York. She is good at Kendo, Later marries Ryu, best shot of Jetmen, initially dislikes Mecha, armed with Swan Wing, Swannie Attack, Double Kick (with Yellow Owl).
  • Ako Hayasaka / Blue Swallow: 18 years old, Senior at Miharakita High School, Bright and cheery, wants to married a rich man, First thought of Jetman as a part time job paying 1500 yen an hour. but her first battle awakened her sense of justice and made her realize that she must fight as a warrior. Best friends with her classmate, Kyouko, Debuts as an idol singer three years after the fall of Vyram.
  • Raita Oishi / Yellow Owl: 22 years old, Nature lover who enjoys vegetables, hates Vyram for destruction of nature, Good at cooking. Looks after Kaori. Three years after Vyram defeated, runs a farm with his childhood friend, Satsuki. raised by his grandmother, Kiyo Oishi, when Raita's parents were busy, as Yellow Owl, specializes in head butt, body blows, throwing techniques, and sumo-based attacks; able to hurl boulders, armed with Rock Drop, Sure Kill Thrust, Condor/Owl Towering Attack.
  • Gai Yuki / Black Condor: 25 years old, Loner, hates being ordered around, loves fighting but is really a nice guy, initially clashed between Ryu but became friends in battle, interests include motorcycle, saxophone, gambling and womanizing, Cares for Kaori, Murdered by thug three years after the fall of Vyram, armed with Condor Finish, Flying Kick, Condor/Owl Towering Attack.

  • Commander Aya Odagiri: First woman commander of Sentai, Good at martial arts, inventor of Mecha.

  • Neo Jetmen: J1 through J5, anti-Jetman team created by Supreme Commander Ichijou, receive powers from Birdonic Reactors implanted in bodies, J1 armed with Neosword, J2 armed with Neostinger scythe, J4 armed with Neoslicer boomerang, all wield Neoshooter guns and Neomine grenades, group attack is Flarebuster twin cannon, eventually gave Birdonic energies to Jetmen when Jetmen couldn't henshin.

  • Last three warriors of Dimensia, a realm destroyed by Vyram. chase Vyram to Earth with Bird Garuda, Dan able to transform self into winged "birdman".

Dimensional Battle Party Vyram

Conquered Back Dimension, now moving on to Front Dimension, ours. Four leaders compete to defeat Jetmen and earn leadership.

  • Dimensional Beasts: Monsters, result from combination of Dimensional Bug parasites and Earth objects.
  • Bio Dimension Beasts: Later monsters; created using Bio Dimension Bugs, which combine Terran animal genes with Terran weapons.
  • Grinam Soldiers: Black-skinned grunts born from Grinam seeds.
  • Vylock: Brain-shaped castle capable of traversing dimensions.

Emperor Tranza
  • Emperor Tranza/Toran: Psychokinetic who later grows up to become Emperor Tranza. As Tranza, builds the giant robot Veronica, which drains life force from human captives.
  • Count Radiguet: Cold-hearted officer who will do anything to defeat an enemy. Absorbs Veronica's energy to power himself up. Defeats Tranzer to become Vyram's leader. When enraged, turns into the monstrous Radigan. In the end, became the giant monster Raguem, capable of merging with the ship Vylock. Armed with the Bloodygade sword. Murderer of Dan and Rie.
  • Maria: Formerly known as Rie Aoi, skyforcer W3, 22 years old, Armed with the Necrod, which has three modes: electromagnetic whip, sword, and beam gun. She was killed by Radiguet.
  • Grey: Robot who is almost human, with a love of wine, music, and cigarettes. Armed with the Grey Cannon. Feels for Maria and uses his body as a shield to protect her. Dies in a duel with Gai.
  • Veronica: Giant robot created by Tranza, drains life force from human captives.
  • Demon Beast Juuza: Previous ruler of Vyram. Radiguet was once her underling. Awakens after a long sleep and comes to Earth via a meteroite. Turns humans into pillars of crystal so she can feed off their suffering. Fires bullets from her fingers and shock waves and beams from her mouth. Gave birth to Semimaru.
  • Demon Beast Semimaru: The ultimate beast of destruction--a bat-winged red insectoid.
  • Demon Gods Mu, Ramon and Gorg: Natural enemies of humanity who awoke from a long sleep. Feed off humans transformed into fruits. Ramon and Gorg can merge into a single being.
  • Shadow Jetmen: Evil cloned team created by Light Armorjiro, Vyram monster

Mecha

  • Skycamp: Sky Force's high-tech base for Jetmen, launches mecha.

    • Jet Striker: Red's buggy, transforms into Fire Bazooka.
    • Jet Vancer: Yellow and White's Toyota 4WD.
    • Jet Speeders: Black and Blue's motorcycles.
  • Jet Icarus: Forms with all five jet planes into a single robot, armed with Birdonic Sabre, Shot Puncher, Icarus Axe, Icarus Puncher, Icarus Magna, Jet Lancer, Jet Dagger, Wing Shield.
