Hernán Fernando Cortés, also known as Hernando Cortes, was born in Medellin, Province of Estremadura, Spain, to Martin Cortés and Catalina Pizarro Altamirano in 1485. He died near Seville, December 2, 1547.

In between those events, he destroyed the Aztec Empire and sired (literally) Mexico.
