Kosovo is a region in the Balkans with a ethnic Albanian majority

population. It's international status is anomalous in that although it is formally under the sovereignty of Yugoslavia, actual administration

is conducted by the United Nations with no involved from Yugoslavia.

The anomalous status of Kosovo is the result of the Kosovo War of 1998.
