Botany: calluna vulgaris or species of genus Erica, low evergreen shrubs (also called "heaths").

The term is also used to describe fields which are overrun with such plants.

(In apparel or textiles) --- interwoven yarns with a flecked grayish color.

Heather is also a popular English feminine given name.
