If you remove an image from an article, you should list the article it used to be at, so there can be effective community review of whether the image should be deleted or not. This is necessary because the image pages do not remember the articles they used to be used on.

  • We have dozens of images with zero size. I propose to delete them all. silsor 06:03, Feb 17, 2004 (UTC)
    • I took the liberty of deleting most of these right away, since there didn't seem to actually be any information lost in doing so, except in some cases, where I haven't deleted them. A summary of what I did:
      • When I could verify that the images were re-uploaded with another filename, I deleted them, with the deletion comment containing the new filename.
      • With zero-byte images added by regular contributors, but which I could not verify having been re-uploaded, I deleted them and left a message on the contributor's talk page with the filename and its former caption, so they can re-upload if they have a copy still.
      • With zero-byte images added by no-longer-active users, I deleted them.
      • With zero-byte images added by regular contributors and having some significant amount of material on the image description page beyond the one-line caption (e.g., copyright information), I left the page there and left a note on the user's talk page. The two left are: Image:Isaac.jpg and Image:Pwc.jpg.
      • When there existed a non-zero-byte old revision, I reverted to it. Similarly, in one case, I grabbed an image off fr: to fix an import-gone-wrong. This has resulted in the following five "rescued" images, all of which are currently orphans and should probably be identified (where necessary) and added somewhere:
