Dragon Booster
Dragon Booster is a Canadian animated series first broadcast in 2004. It follows the story of Artha Penn, a stable boy who rides Beaucephalis (or "Beau" for short), the dragon of legend. He becomes a Dragon Booster, a hero to protect the world from impending war and unite humans and dragons for all time. Many of the characters are named for characters in the tales of King Arthur.
Main Characters
Dragon Booster
The hero and main character of the show, Dragonbooster has the immense responsibility of keeping Dragon City safe, along with his dragon Beau, who is the black and gold dragon of legend. He has to live up to a lot, as there is an impending dragon-human war and seemingly endless problems. The Dragonbooster's main weapon is his blocking staff, which comes in quite handy when smacking down Wraith Dragons (More on those below). The Dragonbooster wears the gold draconium armour that was previously worn by the original Dragonbooster of a thousand years ago, who prevented the last dragon-human war. Also he is good with intimidation, which is how his enemies are usually dealt with. The Dragonbooster is really Mid-City's only help against crime besides Dragon City Security. Dragonbooster is sometimes seen riding Beau bareback but is more often seen atop a dark blue saddle on Beau.
Artha Penn
Artha Penn, a tough street racer with a "big, fat head" type attitude. He has black hair and blue eyes and is about 5'8. He is 16 years old and his dragon is Beau, the black and gold dragon of legend who can disguise himself as a blue dragon with red underbelly. He rides in the All-City Racing Circuit, which is where all the teenage racing wannabes hope to be selected by major crews. Artha is also a pretty nice guy and he has a little brother named Lance. He has a BIG crush on the best street racer Kitt Wonn. He was chosen by Beau to become the Dragon Booster, and now he must face new challenges and stop Word Paynn, the owner of Paynn Enterprised (The largest manufacturer of draconium battle gear) from starting a dragon-human war. His name is altered from Arthur Pendragon, better known as King Arthur from legend.
Lance Penn
Little brother to Artha, Lance is your average 10 year old kid with a "happy-go-lucky" attitude. Like most kids that live in Dragon City, anything that involves awesome action and cool racing stunts is "Drac!" which is Dragon Racer slang for "cool!" Lance, unlike Artha, has red hair and freckles sprinkled across his face. He is about 5'2. His dragon is Fracshun, who is a Blue draconium class dragon. Lance is skilled with acrobatics and vid games as well as racing. His name is altered from Sir Lancelot, who served under King Arthur as one of his best knights.
Kitt Wann
The best racer in Dragon City, 16 year old Kitt Raada Wann is a racer gal through and through. She has blue hair and is a 5'6. She is skilled with Thruster Gear, which is a jet-pack style gear that is magged onto the dragon's sides. Her dragon Wyldfyr is a Magma class dragon and, being on two legs, is built for speed. Kitt is rumored to have a crush on Dragon Booster (aka: Artha Penn). Kitt tells Artha about this secret in the episode named "Fanning the Flames". Kitt is a racer who should NOT be taken lightly, for she is easily agitated. So far her and Artha's relationship seems to be steady as friends.
Parmon Sean
The 17 year old 5'10 tall Parmon Sean is the computer nerd of Penn Stables. He is Artha Penn's best friend and is known to carry electronics wherever he goes! Parmon's dragon Cyrano is a Bull class dragon that is big and chunky like an ox with large hooves. Parmon always rides Cyrano, but he mostly hangs out with Lance. Parmon is often the first to point out dangers using his technology array. He is an awesome tactics master and is good with statistics. Sadly nobody seems to understand a word that comes out of his mouth.
Moordryd Paynn
The hotheaded 16 year old son of the infamous Word Paynn, CEO of Paynn Enterprises, which is the lead producer of draconium battle gear in Dragon City. Moordryd is a person who should not be taken lightly, for his attitude gives him a deadly edge on the tracks of Dragon City. His Black Shadow gear powers up his dragon Decepshun, who is a Black draconium Psi Class dragon. Moordryd however has a bad racing record due to the fact that he is always beaten and then eventually saved by Artha. Moordryd's right hand man, Cain, works with him because Moordryd is the leader of the Dragon Eye crew. His name is altered from Mordred, or Medraut, the nephew and son of King Arthur. It seems as though Moordryd has another unexpected good side to him... And a weakness to Lance's puppy-dog eyes. Moordryd also has the power to be able to ride Beau. This is seen when Artha (then as DragonBooster) dared Moordryd to get on Beau.
Other Characters
Word Paynn
Father of Moordryd Paynn and CEO of Paynn Incorporated. He has a dragon called Abandonn which is a very powerful Black Draconium class dragon. Word, being 50 years old, was a racing champion when he was younger and has long sought revenge against the Penn family for being kicked out of the ancient Order because of his fiendish (and failed) plots to start another Dragon-Human war. He still longs to start it, and wants the dragons to conquer. He has succeeded in many things besides gear manufacturing, such as creating liquid Black Draconium, an artificial black and gold dragon, and even wraith gear for humans.
Connor Penn
Father of Artha and Lance Penn. He was the person who bred Beau and taught Artha about the Dragon Booster. Connor was also trained in the ancient Order and was a previous friend of Word. Not only is Connor a dragon breeder, but he provides useful stuff when it comes to racing. Rumor has it that he was the original Dragon Booster, but that was never truly confirmed. Connor is 47 years old and has no dragon. He 'dies' in the first episode, but the Dragon Priest Mortis seems to be a lot like a father figure to Artha and Lance.
Mortis
Dragon Priest and keeper of the Dragon Booster's armor and many legends. Mortis knows of all Dragon City legends, such as the Prophets crew and the Muhorta dragon. His dragon Tyrannis Pax is a Blue draconium class dragon and when working in tandem with Mortis can be rather powerful. It is by popular rumor that Mortis is actually Artha's father Connor in disguise. Mortis has a gold staff that looks like a square shaped dragon head on the top. His staff is very strong. He lives in the temple beneath Penn Stables. The large temple is really just a big cave. Mortis can slam the ground with his staff to cause an image of the gold star of the DragonBooster to appear and glow.
Cain
Moordryd Paynn's right hand man, along with his dragon, Coershun, who is also a Black draconium class dragon. Cain works with Moordryd and is co-leader of the Dragon Eye Crew. He is 17 years old so he is sort of smarter and can be rather loyal (if he used his brains right). He likes to intimidate people he has an edge over, and doesn't seem to like wearing shirts. Like Parm, Cain is probably Moordryd's best friend. He may not be the best, being afraid of yellow-bellied newts, but hey, he knows how to bake cookies!
Spratt
Best friend of Lance Penn. At first, Spratt was slightly jealous of Lance hanging around with his new friends, so he joins the Dragon Eyes, only to quit and become Lance's friend again after an episode with the Dragonbooster. His dragon is Bumpyrr, a White Draconium class dragon. Spratt is an okay kid and seems to be intentionally and unintentionally good at breaking things.
Khatah
The distinguished leader of the Inner Order Crew, Khatah was the best student at the Racing Academy and scored above 98% on all his tests. He is a powerful racer and his dragon Shock-Ra is a blue draconium class dragon with powerful Absorption and Star throwing gear. Khatah can be close minded and initally denounced Artha as just another immature racer. He changed his mind when Artha attempted to rescue him from Moordryd's compound. He also attempted to help Parmon when he and Cyrano were possessed by a powerful Blue Draconium bone mark.
Reepyr
The human leader of the Prophets Crew. The Prophets once helped the Dragon Booster but are now against him. The Crew members of Reepyr's crew are under their dragon's control because they thought that being human was not right and that the dragons should think for themselves.
Wulph
Wulph is the leader of the Army of the Dragon Crew. He along with his dragon Hyve are pack leaders with the other crew members and they specialize in pack hunting skills and when this mighty crew works together as one, then you better watch out.
Pyrrah
The leader of the Dragon Flares, Pyrrah is one hot woman with a fire inside her that never goes out. Her dragon Phorrj is a Magma-class dragon with a HOT attitude. The Dragon Flares are skilled with anything that involves fire and heat. They race well on the Magma tracks of Dragon City. Thus far, every time we have seen Pyrrah, she is unwittingly being used by Word Paynn in one way or another. As a result, we have yet to see what her "true colors" are and whether she is friend, foe, or neutral to the Dragon Booster's cause, though he did save her little brother.
Phistus
The leader of the Grip of the Dragon and the Down City Crew Council, Phistus is very strong and tough, though he is actually a pretty good person. His dragon Brutaris is very much like him, a large figure with a good heart. The Grip of the Dragon crew are not one to easily quit, and are experts in jousting.
Stewardd
A quick little 15 year old, Stewardd is the leader of the secret Light Green Draconium Keepers crew that helped the original Dragon Booster long ago. Stewardd may be small, but when it comes to hiding and being swift on your feet, depend on him. His dragon is Gunny, a Light Green Draconium based dragon. The Keepers crew makes interesting things, such as powerful Deflection gear, and Stewardd even improved the Dragon Booster's blocking staff.
Kawake
The leader of the Will of the Dragon crew and a previous champion in Dragball, Kawake is kind and helpful, but he is physically disabled and cannot walk which is why he had to quit playing Dragball. His dragon is Rumbull, or Aftershock, who is the strongest Brown Draconium dragon in Dragon City. The Will of the Dragon and their Brown Draconium based dragons are very similar to Green Draconium dragons, and the crew is great at Dragball.
Vociferous
The sly, smooth-taking shifty leader of the Voice of the Dragon crew. Vociferous loves to fool around by making people do embarrassing things and have his fun with his manipulation and deception, but he does have his pathetic points. His dragon is Swavy, a Turquoise Draconium dragon, which is much like the Brown and Green Draconium dragons. The Voice of the Dragon are the most deceptive and untrustworthy crew, breaking many vows, even ones with their main allies, the Dragon Eyes. Vociferous seems to like setting new fashion trends, and has a bit of an elfish look to him.
Dragons
Beau
The Dragon of Legend, Beau is the most powerful dragon in all of Dragon City and is given immense respect. He is a large dragon and his power knows no bounds. To ride Beau you must show great talent, good skills, nice manners, moral fibre, bravery and courage. If any of those talents are not present, then Beau will reject you. Beau is a gold draconium class dragon and the last of his kind. This dragon of legend, who can mag all draconium colours and control all draconium energies can disguise himself as a blue dragon with red underbelly, and is reminiscent of a cobra and a greyhound. Beau runs on four legs, as most of the Dragon-City dragons do.
Wyldfyr
A Magma class bipedal dragon, Wyldfyr is built for speed with a streamlined saurian body and a loyal personality. When paired with her rider Kitt, they are unstoppable and nobody can catch Wyldfyr at her top speed of 200mph. Wyldfyr is red in color with white spikes on her tail and large facial spikes.
Cyrano
Cyrano is a Bull class dragon that is kind of dumb but can be smart, like his "professor" rider, Parmon. Cyrano is NOT a dragon that is built for racing, due to over large muscles, but Cyrano is built for brute strength. Cyrano has four BIG cloven hooves and overlarge shoulders. Cyrano can bellow very loud if distressed and if he starts getting angry, then get out of the way. Cyrano was also under the control of the blue Bone Dragon Samrocs (sp?) once, and had to absorb blue draconium gear to stabilize the difference between Samrocs and his own green self.
Decepshun
This dragon is a bad critter. Known to have Black Shadow gear equipped, Decepshun is a dragon to be reckoned with. She is a Black Draconium class dragon and is paired with Moordryd Paynn-leader of the Dragon Eye Crew along with Cain and Coershun. She is treated quite kindly by Moordryd.
Fracshun
The dragon belonging to Lance Penn, brother to Artha Penn of Penn Racing Stables. Fracshun is a blue-draconium class dragon and is very cute and his skills are teamwork and pure good loyalty to his rider.
Hyve
The dragon belonging to Wulph, Hyve is a purple draconium dragon and he, like Wyldfyr, is very fast and strong. He is a good pack dragon and is skilled when teamed with other dragons of his Crew. His rider Wulph is the only person that he trusts with complete confidence.
Propheci
The real leader of the Prophets Crew. He often speaks his words through Reepyr. Though his words are mostly cruel, they are actually words of true wisdom. He is an old dragon with a dark heart and wanted the Dragon Booster destroyed to prevent humans from controlling the dragons.
Shock-Ra
Shock-Ra is the dragon that belongs to Khatah. Shock-Ra is fast and powerful. He is known to be a blur when faced on the track and he is a blue-draconium class dragon. He is loyal at heart and strong of mind like his owner, and is very well disciplined in the martial arts.
Phorrj
Phorrj is a Magma-class dragon and is specialized with fire and heat and is rather good at jumping. He is a fast dragon and is rumored to be related to Wyldfyr, but that is just plain old nonsense. Phorrj belongs to Pyrrah, leader of the Dragon Flares crew. He is red with white claws and teeth and also has large facial spikes. Phorrj was once possessed by the red Bone Dragon, who was the original dragon that opposed the original dragon of legend.
Brutaris
The large bull class dragon that belongs to Phistus who is the leader of the Grip of the Dragon Crew and the leader of the Down City Crew Council. Brutaris is a rather ugly beast but he is nice and very strong of body and loyal of heart.
Swavy
Swavy is a Sonic-type dragon, with the same build as a Green and Brown Draconium dragon. Though Swavy's rider is Vociferous and both seem to work together fine, Swavy could probably could be better off with somebody else than just having Vociferous continuously and pathetically press a button to try and mag-blast the Dragon Booster, causing Swavy's energy to drain quickly.
Libris Dragon
The last living Gray Draconium dragon. Can only be called by the Horn of Libris which is really a trophy given out during the Horn of Libris Race which goes up a huge pyramid with doors that only open if you mag-jump and hit the targets to go higher and get to the mouth of the dragon where the horn is located. Libris can use your own Draconium energy against you and is huge.
Muhorta Dragon
A large vampire dragon that hides in a cave somewhere in Old City. The Muhorta was a part of the original dragon-human war, and works parallel to an energy draining whip, draining the energy of dragons and humans. It is very dangerous but it doesn't seem to move around much. Only energy-draining tentacle-like things snap out at any unfortunate passer-by.
Wraith Dragons
Ghost-like dragons under the control of a type of Black Draconium gear. Wraith dragons are more of victims to Word than villains, as they are dragons stolen and controlled to do what Word wants them to do. They can turn invisible and the best types are the swift and stealthy. Word sometimes uses these for spying, but usually provides one for Moordryd for cheating.
Hydrags
Hydrags are lime-yellow eyed turquoise-colored serpent-like dragons. They live underground in unstable places and only come up when a victim dangles from a hole in their sight. Hydrags will shoot up from the ground really quickly, devouring their victims or biting them to bits, then returning to the ground as quick as they came up. They are very dangerous and are mostly seen (probably unwillingly) around deserted areas.
Bonemark Dragons
Furox
Furox is the Dragon spirit hidden within the Red Bonemark. The Red bonemark is shaped like a spurt of flame and is ironically the Dragon Flares crew insignia. The Furox is the dragon of war and once the Mark is placed upon a dragon the full ferocity of the Furox shows through by turning the enhanced dragon into a black and red beast with red eyes and spikes. The furox bone-mark was absorbed by Beau after Moordryd placed it upon him after Artha dared Moordryd to ride Beau. Beau willingly let Moordryd upon him which stunned Artha.
Chromatic Dragon
This is one of Word Paynn's twisted creations. It is made when all the bonemarks are pieced together and fused into one crown-like mark. Brutaris was transformed into this Dragon by Word Paynnbut then repaired by DragonBooster. Not much else is known about this dragon except that its scales flash and vibrate with all Draconium colorations and that it looks like a bull class dragon with two clawed front legs and two hooved back legs.
Wraith Beau
Wraith Beau is the dark and evil version of Beaucephalis the black and gold dragon. Beau was transformed when Word's ancient Wraith Gear was placed upon the DragonBooster. Wraith Beau is a deep violet with fuschia eyes and looks very creepy. Wraith Beau is a merciless beast and when alongside the Wraith Booster can call upon the Ancient Dragon-Eye Empire's Dark Tower devices which release dark clouds of draconium that freeze everyone within into solid stone except for Beau and Wraith Booster. Moordryd actually shows his good side when he rescues Lance and saves Artha.
Dragon Gear
There are all kinds of gear for dragons to use in battle and races. The basic gear colors are as follows:
Red
Red dragon gear is all about fire and using to burn things up. There is Red Thruster Gear, Fire Grenades, Heatwave Gear and many others. Red gear can be used to reforge gear of all colors.
Orange
Orange gear is basically composed of a Drag Box which has a trap inside and Snaring Gear that can trap other dragons and this gear was made by the Prophets Crew.
Black
Black Gear is many things such as Psi Gear and Black Control Gear which is Word Paynn's gear of choice. Also there is Black Shadow Gear which creates a forcefield around the dragon and turns the dragon invisible for sneak attacks.
Blue
Blue Gear is favored by the Inner Order crew and is sleek and can amp the power of a dragon instead of modifying it. There is Blue Star Throwing Gear, Blue Absorption Armor, and Blue Balance Gear.
White
White gear is used for dealing with heights. Thereis Aero Gear and Rappel gear which is much like rock climbing gear used today. This gear is white and shiny.
Light Blue
Light Blue gear is very fish-like. There is Tentacle Gear and Swim gear and other stuff made for swimming and water related things.
Green
Green gear is used for smashing and ramming and is best for the Dragn Joust. There is Green Ramming Gear and others.
Light Green
Light Green is used for evasion and getaways. There is Green tracking gear, Green Invisibility gear and green smoke bomb gear.
