Wikipedia:Speedy deletions
If you've come here from a recently created page whose text may soon be deleted, then Welcome to Wikipedia. Please understand that we mean no harm in deleting your page. In fact, we're delighted to have you, but the page you created seemed to be something other than an encyclopedia article. If it was a test, congratulations - you succeeded in creating a page. Please use the Wikipedia:sandbox for further testing, or create yourself a user page.
If your article was not a test, you may have created a page that was a candidate for speedy deletion. If so, please see our guidelines on writing perfect stubs to see how you could improve the page to something that will not be instantly deletable.
For more information, please read our deletion policy
Using this page
For articles that need deletion, add {{msg:delete}} to the top of the page. Usually, you should not wipe out the contents as it helps to check the contents to be deleted without having to look at the page history. This expands to:
This page is a candidate for speedy deletion.
If you disagree that the page should be deleted, please explain this on the talk page, or at Wikipedia:Speedy deletions.
You can also add it to the list at the bottom of this page, but you don't have to.
Note that if you just replace the content with {{msg:delete}} the prior content will not be automagically added to the deletion log summary when the page is deleted.
See below for instructions regarding the deletion of personal subpages.
For articles that are not candidates for speedy deletion, please use wikipedia:votes for deletion. Please do not list pages that are already listed there.
Advice for administrators
- Use What links here for Mediawiki:Delete
- Check talk pages, page history, etc -- if there is a dispute over whether the page should be deleted, consider first listing it on wikipedia:votes for deletion
- Review our admin deletion guidelines
Deletion of personal pages
Unless you are a sysop, it is not possible to delete your own user pages and subpages, so they must be listed here. If you are a sysop, it is recommended that you also list your pages here so they can be deleted by another sysop. For your main user or talk pages, you must list them here, not delete them yourself, to avoid the appearance that sysops can delete to hide negative comments, while others can't.
Only post pages from your own personal page, and only if you have a genuine reason for requesting a personal page of yours be deleted, please list it here.
Please see Wikipedia:User page for further instructions, and Wikipedia talk:Personal subpages to be deleted for past discussion on this issue.
New notices

- User talk:Zandperl/Political correctness/ - I created the subpage in my userspace so I could work on the article until it looked ok and then move it to the proper place, as has now been done. --zandperl 00:11, 9 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- List of subcamps of Groβ Rosen - the author used UTF. The page is now List of subcamps of Gross Rosen. See User talk:Pfortuny. Pfortuny 11:13, 8 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- I've deleted it for you. But please remember to orphan pages before listing here. Click the "what links here" link and make sure no pages link to the page theresa knott 12:39, 8 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- This should probably be listed on Wikipedia:Redirects for deletion, since the requirements for deleting redirects are often underestimated (see next item for an example). But this case was not a problem. -- Toby Bartels 22:41, 8 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- Talk:Ali al-Sistani/temp - Content is currently identical to Ali al-Sistani. -- Dissident 17:51, 8 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- I have redirected it to Ali al-Sistani. It cannot be deleted since it includes edit history necessary for proper attribution under the GFDL. -- Toby Bartels 22:41, 8 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- Lord Harcourt - Page of possibly fictional Lord, the only content of which is "f u!".
