Living with Lydia
Living With Lydia was a Singaporean TV sitcom that was produced by MediaCorp and aired on Channel 5 from 2001 to 2004.
Overview
It starred Chinese-born actress/comedienne Lydia Sum as Lydia Lum, a popular Hong Kong resturanter who was also a widowed mother with two children, 11 year-old son Jordan (Joel Chan) and 16 year-old daughter Apple (Ng Hui). When her Dim Sum establishment is hit with a case of food poisoning and is ordered by the authorities to close her business(She is labeled "Dim Sum killer" by her former patrons), she and her children is forced to find a new locale, which happens to be Singapore! Thats because her late Grandfather had written a will that gave her ownership of a house he had built thanks in part to his success in the seafood business.
But when she arrives to the house it is already occupied by her grandfather's successor, Billy B. Ong (Samuel Chong)(or as Lydia pronounces it, "Billy Bong!"), whose prides his rise to the top of the ladder on promoting the company's specialty---Fish Balls. The presence of Lydia doesn't set well with Billy at first but he does give in because it might be the only way to get Lydia to give up part of the house[don't count on it!], plus her dim sum business does bring in customers and clients.
In addition to the chaos there's also Billy's son Max (Terrence Tay), an aspiring anime artist, Rhonda (Koh Chieng Mun), Billy's secretary and a thorn in Lydia's side because of her pursuit of Billy(Who by the way is still married but his kooky wife ran off to find herself) and Sulaiman, a former stuntman who now works as the maintence man in Billy's company.
