Extrasensory perception
Appearance
Extra-sensory perception, or ESP, refers to a sense outside the five methods that humans have to experience the world around them. These methods include taste, sight, touch, smell, and hearing. Any information gathered that could not have been aquired with these five senses could be placed in this category, also known as anomalous cognition or a sixth sense.
Proprioception, while not one of the five senses usually listed, is not generally considered to belong to this category.
Some scientists hypothesize that humans may possess a limited magnetic sense, similar to that used by homing pigeons. Whether this is included under the category of ESP is a matter of debate.
