Many European vernacular languages use the Latin alphabet as the basis for their writing systems. The Latin alphabet has evolved slightly through time to suit the languages that use it. Some Latin-derived alphabets are given below:

Notes:
  1. — Albanian also has the digraphs: dh, gj, ll, nj, rr, sh, th, xh, zh.
  2. — Catalan also has the digraphs: ll, ny, l·l or ɫɫ, rr, ss
  3. — Czech and Polish also have the digraph: Ch
  4. — Łacinka also has the digraphs: Dz, Dź, Dž
  5. — Welsh has the digraphs: ch, dd, ff, ng, ll, rh, th. Ñ is often written ng instead.
