Alameda County, California

Alameda County is a suburban county in California's San Francisco Bay Area. As of the 2000 census it had a population of 1,443,741. The county was formed in 1853, with the first county seat in Union City. The seat later was moved north to San Leandro and then, following a countywide election, to Oakland in 1873.
