Juneau County is a county located in the State of Wisconsin. As of 2000, the population is 24,316.
Geography
The county has a total area of 2,083 km2 (804 mi2). 1,988 km2 (768 mi2) of it is land and 95 km2 (37 mi2) of it is water. The total area is 4.54% water.
Demographics
As of 2000, there are 24,316 people, 9,696 households, and 669,993 families residing in the county. The population density is 12/km2 (32/mi2). There are 12,370 housing units at an average density of 6 persons/km2 (16 persons/mi2). The racial makeup of the county is 96.61% White, 0.33% African American, 1.30% Native American, 0.44% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.57% from other races, and 0.74% from two or more races. 1.43% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 9,696 households out of which 30.40% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.50% are married couples living together, 8.80% have a woman whose husband does not live with her, and 30.90% are non-families. 26.00% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.30% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.47 and the average family size is 2.96.
In the county, the population is spread out with 25.40% under the age of 18, 6.90% from 18 to 24, 26.60% from 25 to 44, 24.30% from 45 to 64, and 16.80% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 100.10 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 97.40 males.
