Sir George Gough Arbuthnot. Born 28 August 1848. Fifth son of Archibald Francis Arbuthnot. Died 3 May 1929. Partner in Arbuthnot & Co of Madras at the time of its spectacular crash in 1906 as a result of which he was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment. Six times member of the Legislative Council. Seven times Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, Madras. Fellow of the Madras University. Chairman of the Famine Relief Fund 1900. Married, 9 September 1873 Isabella Albinia Boyle, son of 8th Earl of Cork. Had issue.
