Persons missing after the September 11, 2001 attacks

New York City's official registry lists 3,275 people missing as of November 21, 2001 (See Timeline of WTC Missing). UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan said nationals from 62 countries were among the missing (foreign casualties). 673 sets of remains have been recovered. DNA identification has been employed to identify many of the victims. New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani has urged relatives of the missing to provide DNA samples if possible, to assist in the identification of others.

Visitors

  • 16 employees of Risk Waters Group who were hosting the Waters Financial Technology Congress at Windows on the World
    • 71 delegates from at least 38 companies attending the Congress

There are six people who remain missing and unaccounted.

As a result of the attack, 125 people were killed or remain unaccounted, not including the 64 passengers on the plane. One person died as a result of wounds; 118 remains have been recovered and identified.
