John Clements Wickham

John Clements Wickham (December 21 1798January 6 1864) was Captain of the HMS Beagle (the vessel occupied by Charles Darwin during his voyage of discovery) and conducted various maritime expeditions and scientific surveys along the Australian coastline during 1837-41. He was the first Government Resident at Moreton Bay, Brisbane, Queensland, where he was police magistrate from 1843.
