Out-of-core vs. Databases

I think the article might benefit from discussing the differences to databases. Databases also deal with data with that cannot be assumed to fit into memory, so are databases an implementation of the out-of-principle? On the other hand, some databases support far more advanced query techniques.

A similar trend could be the NoSQL movement.
