Telluride

  • A compound of a metal with the element Tellurium which has approximately the same chemical properties as Sulpher, being in the same series. A compound of hydrogen (or a similar ion) and tellurium is also called a telluride. Like sulphur compounds, telluride compounds tend to be stinky.
  • An ore of gold and silver, similar in appearance to iron pyrite, "Fool's Gold." It is found in small quantities in the Colorado, particularly in the Cripple Creek District. Little or none is found near Telluride, Colorado.
