Combined arms is a military organizational structure where several types of soldiers and weapon systems are combined into a single formation as to provide maximum flexiblity and cooperation during military operations. This theory is opposed to segregated arms where each unit is composed of only one type of soldier or weapon system as to provide maximum cohesion and concentration of force in a given weapon. Combined arms tactics deals with the way such formations are used in military operations.
