Grandiosa (also known as Grandis) is the name of the most popular frozen pizza in Norway. It is also exported to the neighboring countries Sweden and Finland, but Norwegians have a very special love for this simple, -yet tasty pizza. Only for the 4.5 million citizens of Norway, 20 million units of Grandiosa is produced p.a. This quite extreme ratio is due to the fact that the Grandis is extremely popular among students. In fact, for many male students the Grandis is the main part of the diet, and eaten almost every day.
Grandiosa was introduced in Norway in 1980 and has been Norway's favourite pizza ever since. Many claim to never eat this frozen pizza, and try to ridicule those who do. Especially some young male students refuse to be affected by this harassment, and keep enjoying their daily Grandiosa with great pride.
A Grandiosa is made of flour, meat, cheese and vegetables. It is produced in a small town called Stranda in a region called Sunnmøre on the Norwegian west-coast, by a company called Stabburet. A great advantage of the Grandiosa is that it can be taken directly from the freezer and be prepeared in a stove for approximately 10 minutes at 225 degrees Celsius. 100 grams of Grandiosa gives 220 calories.
In addition to the original Grandiosa, there also exists different varieties of the frozen pizza: Grandiosa Pepperoni, Grandiosa Kjøttdeig & Løk (With minced meat and onion), Grandiosa Taco (Wish taco spiced minced meat and corn) and Grandiosa Porsjonspizza (Small verisions).
