Central Única dos Trabalhadores

The Central Única dos Trabalhadores ("United Workers' Center", CUT) is the chief federation of labor unions in Brazil. The CUT was formed in 1983, and (along with the Workers' Party and the Landless Workers' Movement) it was one of the key organizations to challenge the military dictatorship of 1964–1985.

Today it is the most important labor federation in Brazil, though it continues to face obstacles because of corporatist laws that curb workers' rights to organize.
