Gyromancer is a puzzle and role-playing video game developed by PopCap Games, in collaboration with Square Enix and published by Square Enix.[1] It combine the tile-sliding gameplay of PopCap Games' Bejeweled Twist with the role-playing elements and artwork of Square-Enix's games. It has been compared to Infinite Interactive's Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords.[1]

Gameplay

Gameplay of the Japanese version

Players assume the role of Rivel, a summoner who ventures through the enchanted Aldemona Wood. Each stage contains its own objectives, from defeating beasts that block the player’s way, to solving puzzles before time runs out. The player learns to summon many of the beasts he encounters, using them in battle.[2] There are over 50 monsters to be summoned. Matching gems that are the same color as your chosen monster deals damage.[3] Each stage has hidden awards for various accomplishments.[2]

Development

The game was first heard of when Square Enix trademarked the name in June 2009.[4] On September 24th, Square Enix and PopCap Games released some of the features, revealing much of the gameplay.[2] The soundtrack was created by Tsuyoshi Sekito.[5]
