Turning Point 2005 was a professional wrestling pay-per-view event broadcast by Total Nonstop Action Wrestling from SoundStage 21 at Universal Studios Florida in Orlando, Florida on December 11, 2005. Team 3D were featured prominently on the promotional poster.
Results
Preshow Six-Man Tag Team Match: Lance Hoyt and The Naturals (Andy Douglas and Chase Stevens) vs. Buck Quartermain, Jon Bolen and Joe Doering
Lance Hoyt and The Naturals won the match, with Hoyt pinning Joe Doering after the Blackout (7.17)
Sabu won by pinfall after doing an Arabian Facebuster with a barbed-wire board and pinning Abyss with it (11.00)
Austin Aries and Matt Bentley (w/Traci) vs. Alex Shelley and Roderick Strong
Aries and Bentley won the match, with Bentley pinning Shelley after the Superkick (8.15)
Raven won by pinfall after the Raven Effect DDT (6.11). After the match, Larry Zbyszko tried to get Raven to sign his release once more. They came to blows in the ring, being broken up by Security and Cassidy Riley.
Eight-man Tag Team Match: Team Canada (Petey Williams, Eric Young, Bobby Roode and A-1) vs. 4Live Kru (B.G. James, Konnan, Ron "The Truth" Killings and Kip James)
Team Canada won the match, with Bobby Roode pinning Kip James after Konnan hit Kip with a steel chair (7.27). Konnan then hit B.G. with a chair as well. He hugged The Truth, but The Truth looked extremely upset at what transpired. 4Live Kru is effectively dead.
Six-man Tag Team BaseBrawl: Chris Sabin, Sonjay Dutt and Dale Torborg (w/A.J. Pierzynski) vs. Diamonds in the Rough (Simon Diamond, David Young and "Primetime" Elix Skipper) (Bobby Heenan with guest commentary)
Sabin, Dutt and Torborg won the match, with Dutt pinning Simon Diamond after Sabin's Cradle Shock and Dutt's Hindu Press (8.22). Johnny Damon of the Boston Red Sox handed Pierzynski a home plate to use as a weapon, which he did on Diamond.
For the Number One Contendership to the NWA World Heavyweight Championship: Christian Cage vs. "The Alpha Male" Monty Brown
Christian Cage won by pinfall after the Unprettier (12.45)
Non-Title Tables Match: NWA World Tag Team Champions America's Most Wanted ("Wildcat" Chris Harris and "Tennessee Cowboy" James Storm) vs. Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother Devon)
Team 3D won the match, eliminating Storm with a Death Sentence through a table in the ring, then eliminating Harris with a 3D through a table on the heel ramp (10.51)
For the TNA X Division Championship: "The Phenomenal" A.J. Styles (c) vs. Samoa Joe
Samoa Joe won by submission with the Coquina Clutch (19.05). Samoa Joe is the new TNA X Division Champion. After the match, Joe tried to injure Styles, but "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels came out and made the save, preventing what happened to him at Genesis from happening to his rival.
For the NWA World Heavyweight Championship: Jeff Jarrett (c) vs. Rhino
Jarrett won by pinfall after a Super Stroke onto some chairs (17.33). Jeff Jarrett retains the NWA World Heavyweight Championship.
- After the match, the lights went out and Jarrett's celebration was cut short by a scorpion symbol on the monitors, with the 1/15/06 date for Final Resolution 2006 beneath it. When the lights returned, in the center of the ring were a chair, a trenchcoat, a pair of boots and a baseball bat, with Jarrett looking scared. Sting is coming.
Trivia
- Jeff Hardy was scheduled to appear in the preshow match, but no-showed with no explanation. Lex Lovett was also scheduled to be involved, but was cut out when Jeff Hardy no-showed.
- Both Sabu and Abyss, as expected, were severely cut up in their Barbed Wire Massacre. Abyss's left arm was sliced open, and he had to be cut out of the barbed wire board he was pinned under. Both required dozens of stitches.
- James Storm suffered a stinger in the Tables Match when he took the Death Sentence into a table, and had to be helped from the ring. He is expected to be okay in a couple of days.
