A list of characters from Danny Phantom.

Characters

Daniel "Danny" Fenton/Danny Phantom

See Danny Fenton - Danny Phantom Bio for details.

Danny is the show's protagonist and main character. One day in his parents' laboratory, Danny has an accident involving the newly built "Fenton Portal" and his molecular structure was fused with ectoplasm, allowing him to transform from ghost to human at will. (There are rumors about him being half dead *hence the fact that he's half ghost*) As a human, Danny Fenton looks normal enough. He is a nervous, clumsy, 14-year-old boy who tries to fit in with the crowd. But as a ghost, his hair turns white, his clothes turn black (with white boots, gloves, and belt) and "Danny Phantom" gains a number of new supernatural powers. In either form, Danny (as well as all other humans) can see, hear, and talk to other paranormal beings, as well as battle them. To save his friends and family, Danny frequently battles with various ghosts. Danny has told nobody except his friends and sister about being half ghost, and struggles to hide his ghost identity. Throughout the series, Danny is continuously caught in a love battle. In the beginning, his friend Sam has notably displayed affection towards him. At the moment, since Reign Storm, Sam now has to battle ghost-hunter Valerie Gray for his heart. Danny is voiced by David Kaufman.

For Danny's ability, see Danny's Ghost Powers

Family

Jazmine "Jazz" Fenton
Danny's older sister in the Danny Phantom television series. As her official biography introduces her:
Jazz Fenton: Danny may have the super powers in his family, but Jazz has the looks, the brains, and the social skills. Being the older sister and all, Jazz keeps Danny's big secret. Not only because she's Danny's older sister, but because she has to maintain a perfect image in front of her friends and schoolmates.

Though viewers have never seen her with any of her own friends or colleagues at home or school, Jazz has a brilliant mind and studies child psychology; she is frequently trying to stop her parents from thinking about and fighting ghosts (she considers it a "sick obsession") in favor of a more normal career. Jazz tends to act a little cold to others, or as Danny put it, like "a conceited snob"; but the viewer often sees a kinder, more compassionate Jazz (even when no one else does), especially in regards to Danny and her parents.

In My Brother's Keeper, Jazz found out about Danny's dual identities when she saw him transforming without his knowledge with his signature battle cry, "Going Ghost". At first, Jazz tried to question Sam and Tucker, Danny's friends, but she soon realized that they would not betray Danny's secret, and later, when Danny rescued her while in ghost form, Jazz pretended to be scared of him and runs away, and is later heard saying "He'll tell me when he's ready." Danny didn't know that Jazz was aware of his Ghost Status, and Jazz has often covered for him when he's out capturing ghosts, e.g., "Whatever he's doing, I'm sure it has nothing to do with ghosts". Danny discovered that Jazz knew after the events of The Ultimate Enemy.

After that event, in Secret Weapons, Jazz began to try and take a more active role in Danny's ghost fighting. Unfortunately, her inexperience resulted in more than a few embarassing defeats for Danny. Danny finally blows up at her, and she runs away in tears. retreating to the home of Vlad Masters (a.k.a. Plasmius), she is forced into combat with Danny. After working together to defeat Plasmius and his evil plan to use Jazz as a super weapon, and smoothing things out between the two of them, she decided to try and help Danny from a less active role. Jazz is voiced by Colleen O'Shaughnessey.

Jack & Madeline/Madison "Maddie" Fenton
Danny and Jazz's parents, and enthusiastic/fanatic "professional ghost hunters"; but they are oblivious to their son's human/ghost hybrid status. Jack and Maddie are usually seen trying to prove the existence of ghosts (finally accomplished in Public Enemies), they automaticaly think that all ghosts are evil, and are trying to capture one, if any, for scientific study, and building devices to track, capture, and take down these beings. In their ghost-hunting career, they primarily use ectoplasm as a power source in their weaponry and devices.

Maddie is an accomplished martial artist as well as marksman and technical whizz. Jack is an adequate fighter with great strength (due primarily to his prodigous size) and courage as well as a good amount of technical knowledge, but can often be clumsy and incompetent. However, he has a maturity and seriousness that few people recognize. Jack appears to be a parody of Mr. Fantastic, as well as Prof of the Challengers of the Unknown. Both parents are extremely dedicated to their family as well as to their pursuit of ghosts. Both normally wear hazmat suits (equipped with protective goggles) even when they aren't hunting ghosts (though Maddie is known to remove hers at times). Maddie Fenton is voiced by Kath Soucie, and Jack Fenton is voiced by Rob Paulsen.

Official Bios:

Jack Fenton
If Danny seems a little strange, it's probably because bizarre behavior runs in the family. Danny's dad, Jack—determined to prove the existence of ghosts but completely unaware that his son sort of is one—is far too brave for his own good. Geared up in his bright-orange "test pilot suit," Jack always jumps into the action before thinking and usually makes a bad situation even worse. Compared to keeping his dad out of trouble, fighting ghosts and surviving high school are practically a piece of cake for Danny.
Maddie Fenton
Danny's mom, Maddie, is absolutely brilliant. Need to know why walls suddenly bleed, why possessed statues are reciting Shakespeare, or how to get rid of that ghost that's been following you for days? Maddie's got the answer. But all that time spent with out-of-this-world weirdness (not to mention Mr. Fenton) has kind of rubbed off on Danny's mom. Let's just say you'd sooner find her building a high-tech ghost-tracker than baking gingerbread cookies. In fact, she's probably building one right now.

Danny's Best Friends

Tucker 'Tuck' Foley
Danny's best friend—next to Sam, that is. Tucker is nicknamed as 'Techno-Geek' or 'Bad Luck Tuck' by the popular kids. He would do almost anything to get a date with a cute girl. He loves technology and cannot live without it. Unfortunately, he does not know when to keep his mouth shut, which gets him into trouble. He also is a carnivore, as heard in the episode Mystery Meat, and has a sense of smell finely attuned to meat. Tucker is voiced by Rickey D'Shon Collins
Samantha "Sam" Manson
One of Danny's best friends. She is a goth (much to her parents' hatred of the goth subculture). Her parents are extremely wealthy, having inherited from a great inventor, although she keeps this a secret. According to her, she wants to earn real friends, rather than the popularity and fake friendships that come with wealth. Sam is often the most pragmatic of the group, though she does have the tendency to be bossy and a bit self righteous at times, especially when environmental causes are involved. In spite of this, Sam has a HUGE crush on Danny, and she and Tucker are often there assisting Danny in any way they can when he is fighting ghosts. In the Christmas episode, it is also revealed that Sam is Jewish. Sam is voiced by Grey Delisle.

Citizens of Amity Park

Amity Park
The town takes its name from Amityville, in keeping with the show's very soft horror/paranormal theme. Amity Park usually has billboards that say "Amity Park, a nice place to live!"
Mr. Lancer
During his own years at High School, Lancer was a Male-Cheerleader. Now an English teacher and Vice-Principal at Danny's school, Casper High (another ghost reference). He often uses the titles of books as exclamations (for example, "Moby Dick! I've lost my pants!", and "Lord of the Flies! They're slipping right through my hands!" "Gulliver's Travels! I'm losing my mind! And my pants!"). He looks on most of the student body as troublemakers, especially since he's usually caught in the middle of their shenanigans. Despite this, he genuinely cares for his students' education and does what he can to help them succeed in life. He is voiced by Ron Perlman.
Official Bio

Mr Lancer: The Vice Principal and English teacher at Danny's school, Mr. Lancer is all about following the rules. He has no clue about Danny's phantom status, but it wouldn't matter anyway. Mr. Lancer just can't handle any kid (phantom or not) breaking the rules. Which means Danny has to find creative ways to battle ghosts on school days if he wants to save Casper High AND actually graduate.

Dashiel 'Dash' Baxter
Most popular guy in the school. Quarterback of the football team - as well as a member of every sports team (Basketball, etc) at Casper High, Dash can get away with just about anything, and usually does. He is a bully towards many in the school, Danny especially, and often goes out of his way to make Danny's life difficult. Danny has been known to use his ghost powers to get revenge on Dash. Danny's powers have revealed certain disturbing things about Dash, like the fact that Dash secretly collects teddy bears. He is voiced by S. Scott Bullock.
Official Bio

Dash: He may be a ninth-grader like Danny, but Dash is the big man on campus at Casper High. Guys want to be him and girls want to date him. And this football hero likes nothing more than harassing Danny. But the tables have turned now that Danny has his super powers, and sometimes he just can't resist making Dash look like a fool. Which, considering the size of Dash's brain compared to the rest of his body, isn't very hard to do.

Paulina
A cheerleader and the most popular girl at Casper High School. Paulina has a Hispanic background, her father spoils her and she owns her own moped. Danny thinks she is incredibly beautiful and spends a lot of time fawning over her and trying to impress her (or at least to get her attention). She doesn't like him because he isn't popular (though she loves his alter-ego, Danny Phantom, or "Inviso-Bill," as she knows him.) Sam usually gets angry (jealous) when Danny is involved with Paulina. Paulina is 15 years old as of Memory Blank. Paulina is voiced by Maria Canals.
Kwan
A football player and Dash's best friend. It often seems that Kwan is the more rational of the two. Like Dash, Kwan bullies Danny around, but acts nicer than most of the other popular kids in Casper High. Back when Valerie was popular, Kwan was dating her, now Kwan is currently dating Star, Paulina's best friend. Kwan is voiced by James Sie
Star
A cheerleader and Paulina's best friend, Star is one of the populer kids. Tucker has called Star "Satellite" because like a real satellite orbiting an object, Star orbits around Paulina. Star is currently dating with Kwan, Dash's best friend. Star is voiced by Grey Delisle
Principal Ishiyama
Principanl Ishiyama is a principal of Casper High. She is known to have an Asian descent, most likely Japanese due to her last name. She first appeared in "Fanning the Flames" She normally wears a purple dress or a purple shirt and skirt. Principal Ishiyama is voiced by June Angela.
Jeremie and Pamela Manson
Sam's parents are the overall antithesis of their daughter, being a pair of super-optimistic socialites. On various occasions, they have been shown to have enormous disdain of Sam's nonconformity, forcing bright dresses and the like upon her. They also dislike Danny and his family due to their behavior. While not named in the show, they are credited as "Jeremy" and "Pam." Mr. Manson is voiced by S. Scott Bullock, and Mrs. Manson is voiced by June Angela.
Ida Manson
Sam's grandmother, as far as it is known, supports her granddaughter's individuality, being a nonconformist herself in her youth. While her name is not mentioned in the show, she has been credited as "Ida." Grandma Manson is voiced by Kath Soucie.

Relationships

Danny and Sam: Many people worship this relationship, since it is always hinted out in the show (usually with the two shouting "He's/She's not my boy/girlfriend" in defense).

Tucker and Sam: Since they act as complete opposites, this relationship may be more likely to some fans.

Danny and Valerie: A lot of Danny/Sam haters have treasured this relationship since Reign Storm. The next episode of Danny Phantom will show Danny battling his feelings for Valerie, and even consider going steady with her.

Danny and Ember: Though never hinted at, this relationship is most wanted by fans, since Ember is one of the more popular ghosts.

Skulker and Ember: These two are often mentioned together, so those two could be made for each other, just like Kitty with Johnny or Spectra with Bertrand.

Box Ghost and Lunch Lady: This relationship has no real hinting at except for the episode Ultimate Enemy. Clockwork came back in time with a ghost named Box Lunch, who was supposedly the daughter of Box Ghost and Lunch Lady.
