Crawdaddy is a card game currently popular in England. It is played by any number of people, who are dealt 3 cards by a dealer (who also takes three cards). The dealer is automatically awarded 5 points. If a player breaks 21 on a red card, he/she must fold. Each player must then put down his/her red cards. If a player has all three red cards, he/she is out for that round (and must put them face up in humiliation). Next, each player is automatically dealt one card. The break 21 rule also applies here. With the pool of players cut down significanntly, the game begins in earnest. The dealer goes to each player (starting to the left) and asks if they wish to recieve another card. The player must then make a sign with his finger by either brushing it or not brushing it against the playing surface. If a player brushes the playing surface, he wants another card. If he does not, and the dealer thinks he did, a point is taken away from the dealer and given to the fooler.
The player is trying to do one of a number of things. They may either: A. Stay under 21 B. Go for 21, but cannot break 21 C. Go for 49 (Must have at least one 7 to win with this hand) D. Go for 50
Scoring is as follows A. Fool Point -1 B. Winning with under twenty-one -2 C. Twenty-one -3 D. Forty-nine -4 E. Fifty -5
If at any time there is a tie for the win in a round, the players shuffle their cards and play war with only the cards they have. If one player has more than another, the player with fewer cards may take some from the dealer to equal his opponent's amount. If two players each have 50, they must build houses of cards with the cards they have to be judged for the win.
