Template:FFV character Bartz Clauser (バッツ・クラウザー; Battsu Kurauzā), sometimes spelled Klauser, is a fictional character from the Square Co., Ltd. RPG Final Fantasy V for the Super Famicom (Super Nintendo Entertainment System). He grew up in the small town of Rikks with his mother Stella and his father Drogan. After the death of his parents, he decided to go on a personal quest with his trusty companion, Boco the chocobo. He's an easygoing guy with an unfortunate fear of heights, and a tendency to get crushes on any female he meets.

During his visit to the Tycoon region, a large meteor crashes nearby, and upon investigation he discovers a young lady named Reina and an old man who can only remember that his name is Galuf. The girl reveals that she is the daughter of the king of Tycoon, and that she is in search of her father who had been to the wind temple and had not returned. Bartz decides he has better things to do and parts ways; Galuf ops to go with Reina.

However, before Bartz is able to go much further, Boco stops dead in his tracks, and forces Bartz to help the young lady and the old man. He relucktantly admits to his chocobo friend that he is worried about the two, and goes off in their direction. He finds them near a cave by the sea, where they are being chased by goblins. After some quick work on the fiends, he agress to travel with the two.

Inside the cave they find a band of pirates, lead by a strangly feminine man, whose ship sails when there is no wind. They attempt to sneak aboard, but are discovered and captured. However, their captain, Faris, releases them when he notices that Reina carries the same medalion around her neck that he has. He reveals that the reason his ship is able to sail on its own is due to the fact that his childhood friend, Hydra the sea dragon, carries the boat on its back.

After leaving the pirate crew in a small village called Tule, the four head to the Wind Temple. At the top of the tower they find that the wind crystal had been shattered, and Reina's father was being controlled of the magician X-Death. They are revealed to be the four Dawn Warriors, and are bestowed powers from the shattered pieces of the crystal which grant them the powers of various warriors such as Knights, Black Mages and Theives.

Bartz later discovers that his father Drogan was one of the original four Warriors of the Dawn, and 30 years ago he helped seal the evil magician from another world, X-Death, with the power of the crystals.
