The Moon and Antarctica (2000) is the third full-length album recorded by the indie rock trio Modest Mouse, and their first on a major label.

The album was released on Epic Records on June 13, 2000, on both Compact Disc and vinyl LP.

The Moon and Antarctica was recorded at Clava Studio in Chicago, Illinois (except for track #10), and produced and mixed by Brian Deck. Lyrics on all songs are by Isaac Brock, and music on all songs is by Modest Mouse, except for tracks #10 and #13, where lyrics and music are by Isaac Brock exclusively.

The album had several guest performers, including violinist Tyler Riley, percussionist Ben Massarella, keyboardist Brian Deck, guitarists Ben Blankenship and Greg Ratajczak, and vocalists Tim Rutilli and Chiyoko Yoshida.

In 2004, Epic rereleased The Moon and Antarctica, remastered, and with new artwork and four additional tracks, including "Custom Concern (instrumental)" and BBC Radio versions of "3rd Planet", "Perfect Disguise", and "Tiny Cities Made of Ashes".
