Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Beckjord/Evidence

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is an old revision of this page, as edited by DanielCD (talk | contribs) at 17:11, 26 January 2006 (Evidence presented by DanielCD). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Anyone, whether directly involved or not, may add evidence to this page. Please make a header for your evidence and sign your comments with your name.

When placing evidence here, please be considerate of the arbitrators and be concise. Long, rambling, or stream-of-conciousness rants are not helpful.

As such, it is extremely important that you use the prescribed format. Submitted evidence should include a link to the actual page diff; links to the page itself are not sufficient. For example, to cite the edit by Mennonot to the article Anomalous phenomenon adding a link to Hundredth Monkey use this form: [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Anomalous_phenomenon&diff=5587219&oldid=5584644] [1].

This page is not for general discussion - for that, see talk page.

Please make a section for your evidence and add evidence only in your own section. Please limit your evidence to a maximum 1000 words and 100 diffs, a much shorter, concise presentation is more likely to be effective. Please focus on the issues raised in the complaint and answer and on diffs which illustrate behavior which relates to the issues.

If you disagree with some evidence you see here, please cite the evidence in your own section and provide counter-evidence, or an explanation of why the evidence is misleading. Do not edit within the evidence section of any other user.

Be aware that the Arbitrators may at times rework this page to try to make it more coherent. If you are a participant in the case or a third party, please don't try to refactor the page, let the Arbitrators do it. If you object to evidence which is inserted by other participants or third parties please cite the evidence and voice your objections within your own section of the page. It is especially important to not remove evidence presented by others. If something is put in the wrong place, please leave it for the arbitrators to move.

The Arbitrators may analyze evidence and other assertions at /Workshop. /Workshop provides for comment by parties and others as well as arbitrators. After arriving at proposed principles, findings of fact or remedies voting by Arbitrators takes place at /Proposed decision. Only Arbitrators may edit /Proposed decision.

Evidence presented by DanielCD

First assertion

My statement is for the record, mainly. I don't expect it to have any significant effect on the outcome, but I feel it deserves mention.

I don't believe Beckjord is here solely with the intent of causing trouble. The trouble is a result of his personality, and as it is trouble, it deserves whatever judgement assigned. He has asked for help, and I tried to give it to him. However, I didn't refer him to other resources when my time got tight over the last month, and perhaps that is a failure on my part.

As evidence, I refer this comment on my userpage by Beckjord: Questions for Daniel.

Here is the edit/difference link: [2]

Note My judgements are based on the period in which I had experience with him, which was primarily before the current issues were brought up. --DanielCD 17:11, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

First assertion

When I found this subject, it appeared that the all of the Users were violating WP:BITE, WP:NPA protocol, calling him disruptive and the like, so DanielCD and I attempted to help him with Wikipedia and its protocol. He may indeed have issues with his personality. He says that he has had multiple Bigfoot and UFO encounters, and implies that the skeptics are accusing him of lying and/or being a idiot, and are trying to silence him. I've personally investigated a Bigfoot case myself in which the people don't like skeptics because they have outright accused the residents of lying and/or being idiots, so I can see why User:Beckjord does'nt like skeptics. I do not think he intends to be disruptive at all.

Using sockpuppet accounts for dubious reasons

Beckjord (talk · contribs) is apparently Erik Beckjord, [3] and has edited his own article, usually posting links to his website(s). After being welcomed as a new account, [4] Beckjord later creates a sockpuppet army to circumvent the three revert rule and or to give the appearance of more editors in agreement with his perspective. Originally posting solely with his username Beckjord commencing in early December, 2005 [5], [6], [7], [8], Beckjord then creates sockpuppets Dr Joe (talk · contribs) [9], DrJoe (talk · contribs), [10], Luminary666 (talk · contribs)[11], Orphanannie (talk · contribs), [[12],205.208.227.49 (talk · contribs), [13], [14], 207.200.116.72 (talk · contribs), [15], and uses AOL IP:152.163.100.70 (talk · contribs), [16]. His editing style in talk pages he frequently posts in have a particularily easily identified style that have odd spacing, usage of alphanumerical sequences to form some kind of page break and also is quick to external link to his own website(s), [17], [18], [19], [20], [21], [22], [23].

Beckjord (talk · contribs) violates no original research with postings linked from his website(s), and his unproven personal opinion that Bigfoot is essentially from outer space. [24],[25], [26],[27], [28], [29]

Beckjord was asked numerous times to not cite himself or his independent website(s), [30], [31], [32]

Violation of no personal attacks
