Charles Ponzi (1877-1949) earned his fame by being a swindler. His name is clebrated for bing given to the term "Ponzi scheme" in which investors are sought with the promise of high returns on investments. Early investors are paid with the investments of newer investors until the scheme collapses because of its hunger for an ever increasing number of new investors.
