The Pyramid of Djoser was designed for the burial of [[Pharaoh Horus Netjerikhet Djoser]] by Vizier Imhotep. This early Egyptian pyramid is akin to a Sumerian Ziggurat, and consisted of 6 mastabas (of decreasing size) built atop one another. The pyramid was 60m tall. The step pyramid (or proto-pyramid) is considered to be the earliest large-scale stone construction.
