New Communist Party of Britain
The New Communist Party of Britain is a communist political party in Britain. They left the Communist Party of Great Britain in 1977. The first General Secretary of the NCP when founded was Sid French who had been Secretary of the CPGB Surrey District which was to become a NCP stronghold. Sid died in 1979 and was succeeded by Eric Trevett. Eric retired from full-time Party work in 1995 but remains on the Politburo of the Central Committee of the NCP. The Current General Secretary is Andy Brooks and the Party President is Eric Trevett
They are politically closest to the anti-revisionist Communist Parties who would see the Soviet leadership from Khrushev onwards as stepping away from socialism. Internationally it supports Cuba, China, Vietnam, Laos, and has very close relations with the Workers Party of Korea. The NCPB has very close relations in this country with the RCPB (M-L).The NCPB is also very active in the Peace Movement. It produces a weekly newspaper called the New Worker.
