The Carnegiella strigata, commonly known as the marbled hatchetfish is a type of freshwater hatchetfish, with its origins in South America. It is usually around 35mm in length. It is unusually shaped and is white in color. It has gold line that goes from its eye to its caudal fin and the area below has a brown marble like pattern (hence its name). It can "fly" above the service on the water by flapping its pectoral fins. It is somewhat difficult to breed and it is an egg scatterer.
