Vincent Gallo

Vincent Gallo (born Buffalo, New York 11 April 1962) is an Italian American movie actor and director starring in a number of independent movies, notably Buffalo 66 and the controversial The Brown Bunny. Gallo is also a recognized painter, model, alternative musician, motorcycle racer and breakdancer.

Gallo is known for his outspoken and highly-quotable views and claims, once saying "I stopped painting in 1990 at the peak of my success just to deny people my beautiful paintings, and I did it out of spite". In 2003, he aggressively defended his conservative Republican politics to French journalists during the US invasion of Iraq. He also has engaged in a feud with film critic Roger Ebert after Ebert called his film The Brown Bunny "the worst in the history" of the Cannes Film Festival. Numerous public exchanges followed in which, among other events, Gallo put a hex on Ebert's prostate and Ebert declared watching the video of his colonoscopy preferable to The Brown Bunny. The feud was eventually resolved and Ebert endorsed the final version of the film. Gallo himself was critical of the Cannes cut, saying it was not ready to be shown, and stating that the fact that several French critics were defending it was "almost like salt in the wound".

He was also the centre of controversy when he offered to sell his disease-free sperm for $1 million. Gallo, however, refused to sell it to anyone of "extremely dark complexion" and offered discounts to blonde-haired, blue-eyed women or those who had genealogical ties to German soldiers from mid-20th century. "Though a fan of Franco Harris, Derek Jeter, Lenny Kravitz and Lena Horne, Mr Gallo does not want to be part of that type of integration," said his website on the matter. In addition, Gallo's website claimed that he would impregnate by nature means for an additional $100,000, but would waive the fee for anyone that he found attractive.

Gallo has been a professional motorcycle racer, a painter, a photographer, and a musican who has sold many records and based on the credits of his films, the most multi tasking filmmaker in history.
