One of the 613 mitzvot forbidding the placing of a stumbling block before the blind (Lev 19:14). It is also figurative for misleading anyone. Many halakhic principles are derived from this commandment. For instance, it is forbidden to sell an article to a person if it is known that they will use it in idolatry - thus it is forbidden to provide someone with the opportunity to sin.
