Scholars for 9/11 Truth
Scholars for 9/11 Truth is a group faculty, students, and scholars, that includes Robert M. Bowman, David Ray Griffin, James H. Fetzer, Steven E. Jones, Wayne Madsen, John McMurtry, Morgan Reynolds, and Andreas von Bülow. The group believes that the investigations by FEMA and NIST regarding the collapse of the World Trade Center buildings are inadequate, and that crucial facts pertaining to the September 11, 2001 attacks have been covered up by senior government officials. According to their website they "encourage their members to vigorously express their concerns on this score through lectures, conferences, symposia, articles, and books as well as other access routes that publicize their findings." [1]
Their conclusion is based on the results of their own scientific and political research. These experts contend that the official version of events on September 11 are one of the greatest hoaxes in history, which has led to war and unconstitutional policy and decision making. They believe that the 9/11 Commission Report is permeated with omissions, distortions, and factual errors, including the omission of the collapse of Building 7, which was not hit by airplanes and collapsed hours after the twin towers were struck.
Fetzer, a philosophy professor at the University of Minnesota Duluth, and Jones, a physics professor at Brigham Young University, are listed as contacts on the group's website.
Recent scientific study of collapse by BYU Professor
In September 2005, Professor Steven E. Jones from the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Brigham Young University published a paper on a page on the university web site titled Why Indeed Did the WTC Buildings Collapse?; on this site Jones presents a hypothesis for the controlled demolition of WTC towers 1, 2, and 7, and calls for an independent investigation of the hypothesis that WTC 7 and the Twin Towers were brought down, not just by damage and fires, but through the use of pre-positioned explosives. A version of the website information was presented to an audience from BYU and Utah Valley State College on September 22, 2005. The paper will be published in a book called "The Hidden History of 9-11-2001" by Elsevier, in spring 2006. Although Professor Jones is not a trained structural engineer, nor does he have training in controlled demolition, he calls for an independent and international investigation by experts in these areas outside of the bodies of NIST and FEMA. He especially focuses on the evidence of the molten metal found at the base of WTC1, 2 and 7.
