Martin Lipton

Martin Lipton is a founding partner of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, one of the major law firms in the United States. Lipton is also Chairman of the Board of Trustees at New York University, where he is currently trying, but failing, to bust the union of graduate assistants.

He specializes in advising major corporations on mergers and acquisitions. Lipton served as Special Counsel to the City of New York during its fiscal crisis from 1975 - 1978. Lipton holds a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and an L.L.B. from the New York University School of Law. He is a member of The American Academy of Arts & Sciences.
