Wikipedia:Trademark notices

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Damian Yerrick (talk | contribs) at 10:43, 30 March 2002 (stripped the list down to only those trademarks that could conceivably cause confusion). Some people think that when you use a product or brand name in an article, you should acknowledge any trademarks. Simply insert this code after the first instance of the mark:

   [[Wikipedia:Trademark notices|™]]

This will insert a superscript TM symbol (™) and provide a hyperlink to the following (incomplete) list of trademarks used in Wikipedia.

There is no legal requirement to acknowledge trademarks except in an area where use of a mark could conceivably cause confusion between the products of one company and another. In Wikipedia's case, this means that it may be helpful to acknowledge the trademarks of publishers of public domain resources (such as the 1911 edition of Encyclopaedia Britannica™) to clarify that Wikipedia is not affiliated with those publishers.

Wikipedia is not affiliated with the holders of the following trademarks, listed in alphabetical order by company name:

  • Britannica and EB are trademarks of Encyclopaedia Britannica Inc.

All other product and brand names are trademarks of their respective holders.
