Biosphere is that part of a terrestrial system in which life can exist, between the outer portion of the geosphere and the inner portion of the atmosphere.

The Earth's biosphere comprises the air, land and water from the deepest ocean depths to approximately 10 km above sea level where life is primarily sustained by the Sun's energy.
