Finding of the Holy Cross

Celebrated on May 3, the Feast of the Finding of the Holy Cross commemorates the finding by Helena, in 326, of what many Christians believe to be the actual Cross on which Jesus was crucified. Compare the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross on September 14.
