The Oldie is a unique monthly magazine – a haven for fun, good sense and quality writing in a media obsessed with celebrity and "yoof". The magazine was launched in 1992 by Richard Ingrams, who for 23 years was the editor of Private Eye, and is now published monthly.

But I'm not old… The Oldie is not about ageing. It will not tell you "how to make the most of your retirement". But The Oldie will be a splendid read while you are trying to remember where you put your glasses.

The Oldie of the Year Awards is the magazine's annual celebration of the Great and the Good. Categories include campaigner of the year, critic of the year, politician of the year, and of course The Oldie of the Year.

Their monthly Literary Lunches are held at Simpson's-in-the-Strand where guests over the years have heard from such literary luminaries as Michael Palin, Clive James, Maureen Lipman, Colin Dexter, and P. D. James.
