The Franklin Badge is an item from the EarthBound series that is used to deflect lightning. In Mother 1, it is given by Pippi after her rescue by Ninten. In Mother 2, it is given to Ness by Paula before a battle with Carpainter, the leader of a cult. Its namesake derives from Benjamin Franklin and his discoveries related to lightning.
