This was the first of a veritable blizzard of Black Flag albums after their legal dispute with Unicorn/MCA over the release of Damaged. This album is considered by most critics to be a mess and probably the worst of the bunch; this isn't entirely true. The first side has some menacing tunes, particularly My War and I Love You. The second side is a major change of pace, sounding like sluggish Black Sabbath with Rollins screaming as a bizarre sideshow. However, the songs are brought straight from the soul; there's a lot of heart in these tunes, especially Nothing Left Inside. Overall, not the finest of Black Flag's work, but still worth a listen.
