Slip It In was released almost directly after My War, and showed a significant improvement over its predecessor. Slip It In finds the band experimenting with its sound, adding elements of metal and jazz to its signature punk sound. The songs drift between hardcore and twisted metal-fusion, all the while backed by Rollins' hoarse criticisms and laments. Ginn's guitar work was getting more and more experimental and avant-garde, as shown on the brilliant solos from the title track and Black Coffee. One of the most overlooked selections from the Black Flag catalogue.
